The Maycom AR-108 is a pocket sized scanner primarily used for tuning in to overhead transmissions. Although it excels as an airband scanner it is also useful for weather band scanning as well as listening in on emergency services, the amateur 2m band and railways. In order to pick up such transmissions the AR-108 has frequency coverage of 108 - 136.975 MHz (civil airband) and 136 - 174 (VHF).
The AR-108 has two 99 channel memory banks, one for the civil airband and one for the VHF band (198 memories in total), which can be scanned at a rate of 10 channels per second. A dual watch feature ensures you don't miss the action on your most important channel whilst monitoring the activity on other channels.
The search speed of this receiver is 25 steps per second. Searching is programmable enabling you to assign upper and lower frequency limits to your searches.
Other useful features of this receiver include memory backup, which ensures memories are retained for over 10 years when the unit is without batteries, a battery voltage indicator, a memory pass feature, a squelch control and a backlit LCD display.
The Maycom AR-108 is powered by 2 AA batteries.
